Mental Health Breakthrough: SOU Launches Groundbreaking Behavioral Health Program

Southern Oregon University is taking bold steps to transform campus mental health through its innovative Behavioral Health Initiative. This month, the university launched a compelling dialogue series titled Creating a Culture of Care, aimed at fostering a supportive and compassionate campus environment.
The initiative represents a comprehensive approach to student well-being, recognizing that mental health is not just an individual challenge, but a community responsibility. By bringing together students, faculty, staff, and mental health professionals, SOU is breaking down barriers and creating open conversations about emotional wellness and support.
Through interactive workshops, panel discussions, and collaborative sessions, the Creating a Culture of Care program seeks to:
• Reduce stigma surrounding mental health
• Provide accessible resources and support
• Empower students to seek help and support each other
• Build a more empathetic and understanding campus community
This forward-thinking approach demonstrates SOU's commitment to holistic student development, acknowledging that academic success is deeply interconnected with mental and emotional well-being.
