Breaking Barriers: STC's Compassionate Approach to Veterans' Mental Wellness

South Texas College is taking a proactive approach to mental health support with its upcoming "You Matter" workshop, designed specifically for student veterans, staff, and faculty. The Counseling and Student Accessibility Services Department, in collaboration with the Veterans Affairs office and local community partners, aims to empower participants by helping them recognize and understand early warning signs of mental health challenges.
This innovative workshop provides a supportive and compassionate environment where attendees can gain valuable insights into mental wellness, learn critical self-care strategies, and discover resources available to support their psychological well-being. By bringing together veterans, educators, and community allies, the event underscores the college's commitment to holistic student support and mental health awareness.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions, learn practical coping mechanisms, and connect with professionals who can provide guidance and support. The "You Matter" workshop represents a crucial step in destigmatizing mental health conversations and ensuring that every individual feels valued, heard, and supported.
