Arctic Voice: The Lone Northern Advocate Shaping Canada's Youth Climate Agenda
A passionate young voice from Whitehorse has been selected to represent the northern territories on Canada's Environment and Climate Change Youth Council. Pearl Pique Carpina has been chosen as the sole representative from the territories among twelve talented youth from across the nation, joining the council's second cohort announced earlier this month.
The federal government established this council to gather fresh perspectives on critical environmental and climate challenges, using insights from young leaders to shape policy decisions. As a member, Carpina will have the opportunity to provide direct input on issues related to nature, climate change, and environmental sustainability.
This appointment highlights the government's commitment to engaging younger generations in important environmental discussions and decision-making processes. By including diverse voices like Carpina's, the council aims to develop more comprehensive and forward-thinking strategies for addressing Canada's environmental challenges.
